Win10 FTDI Driver Versions

Recommended Posts

I'm having USB problems again - the FTDI driver keeps crashing.

Could I ask Win 10 users to post their Windows version and FTDI driver versions please.

My versions are:

Windows 10 Ver 1703 Build 15063.786

FTDI driver dated 10/04/2012 Ver 2.8.24.0

Many thanks

Nigel

"In February 2016, it was reported that FTDI had published another driver on Windows Update with DRM components intended to block non-genuine products. This time, the driver will communicate with affected devices, but all transmitted and received data is replaced with the arbitrary, looped ASCII string "NON GENUINE DEVICE FOUND!", which could cause irregular interactions with devices"

Are you sure it's not a device issue Nigel?.

Hi Nigel,

This is what I am using without problems:

Windows 10, versie 1803 (latest upgrade)

FTDI driver 2.12.16 march 16, 2016

I think what John is suggesting is not applicable to you, because you still use the old 2012 driver version.

newest drivers can be found here: http://www.ftdichip.com/FTDrivers.htm

I always update to the latest drivers for everything.

Hope this helps a bit.

Best regards,

Waldemar

Thanks for the responses. Win10 auto update on my system is turned off (if it ain’t broke don’t fix it) but usb issues have started to surface again. I wanted to get some confidence that others are using the latest Win10 and FTDI updates before I risk it myself

'if it ain’t broke don’t fix it' is not applicable to updates, I think...

I believe an update is meant to make a program work better and/or faster and more suitable to new standards.

That is why I choose for updating when an update is available. I never regretted that

I’m not saying I’d never update, but I prefer to do so infrequently at a time I choose - not have Win10 do it automatically, often several times a week. Maybe I’m over-cautious.

I will be updating soon though as I need on-demand OneDrive sync.
