If you know Wiki software, freeware, buy or rent, please post it here. It would be great if you can write something about the software, advantages and disadvantages and your experiences with it. Please keep in mind that we are just brain storming and I can't promise that we will implement one yet. But also, being able to see the wiki interface in a locale you know well. For an administration point of view, several aspects are important: - mature - alive - open source - commercial support - page history and compatibility with a versioning system For these reasons, in my company, we chose TWiki for internal wikis. It lets you specify all the relevant criteria, including hosted or non-hosted, editing facilities, localisation capabilities, branding facilities, etc, then short-lists the Wiki engines/service-providers that meet those criteria. If it is going to be done it has to be done well so if ASA don't have in-house Wiki expertise then it might be best to go for one of the hosting providers that can provide professional design support. It can be quickly updated to take into account any modification in the ASA software, while the manual cannot be as reactive. It allows users to add their on views of the different steps to realise a particular operation, to precise alternate possibilities, to provide translations in other languages, etc... There can be also some videos which show a concrete operation on an Asa mount, which are difficult to put inside a manual. The wiki can contain tricks and advice associated with third party things. This cannot generally be part of the manual. In addition, the wiki can be for Asa the cooking pot where the next version of the manual is prepared, and reviewed by experienced users before it is published. Best regards. Hi Nigel and all, They have penetrated the BlueSpice Media wiki we are using and added malware and a lot of users 500+. To prevent attacks we need to often update the media wiki and extensions, they are often the problem for attacks. The site is now on another host in south of Sweden loopia.se hope they can provide som better protection. Im thinking of reinstalling the latest BlueSpice Media wiki, a fresh copy, and try to copy some contents from the old site, to upgrade and clean the current site could be time consuming. MichiP Posted March 4, 2018 Report Share Posted March 4, 2018 (edited) I still think that the Wiki is a great idea but to be honest, the wiki often can't be reached or it took ages to get the page loaded. I'm sure that this is the main reason why it's not used more. Maybe we can improve this and see if something change. What do you need to get the Wiki faster? At the time I posted I had hoped these would be followed by a series of new documentation on other ASA hardware/software but unfortunately that hasn’t happened.
