Dec balance precise adjustment

Hi all,

I would like to share with you the mean I use to easily adjust the balance on the Dec axis. I have made a modification to the dovetail so that I just have to turn a knob to precisely adjust the balance. I needed to use a PTFE spray so that the dovetail slides without effort.

The image of this system is attached here:

This is not patented and I strongly invite ASA to improve this design and add this very useful feature.

Regards.

Out of interest I use this http://admaccessories.com/Miscellaneous_Max_Guider.htm to piggyback my secondary OTA (125mm Hutech/Borg) on my primary OTA (ASA 16" Cassegrain). It allows easy but secure adjustment on all axes both for balance and co-alignment with the primary.

I would not suggest it for attaching a heavy primary OTA to the mount though. Even though it is very solidly built it would introduce unnecessary potential for flexure.

it's difficult for me to understand exactly what is pictured.

could you describe what it does and how?

May-be this diagram will be clearer

Turning the green knob causes the threaded bar to push or pull the dovetail.

Best regards.
