rbrecher
I received from feedback suggesting I separate the large and small scale structures to tease more out of the nebula, and then recombine. I did this with Linear MultiscaleTransform and PixelMath in PixInsight. Here's the result at identical scales so they can be blinked: Improved version: http://astrodoc.ca/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/Sh2-86-13hr30m-HaRGB-Jul-Aug-2014-MULTISCALE.jpg Original: http://astrodoc.ca/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/Sh2-86-13hr30m-HaRGB-Jul-Aug-2014.jpg There is even a small reflection nebula (lower left of centre) that pops in the new image. lukepower
It's no secret I love Pixinsight, and this is a good example to why. Great work Ron
MarkS
Hi Ron, The comparison is interesting! I have played with this technique, but not on really good candidates - It's good to see an example that works well. Regards, Mark
