VdB 81, NGC 2254 (Monoceros)

 

VdB 81 (also catalogued as IC 448, is a reflection nebula in the constellation of Monoceros. Situated between NCC 2261 (Cone nebula) and NGC 2237 (Rosette nebula), It`s illuminated by the 4.47 mag, A0Ib spectral class star 13 Monocerotis (HD 46300).It´s like a blue ink drop expanding as waves between stars: Upper left side of image,you can see the the open cluster NGC 2254 Background showns filamentary emission nebulosity belonging to the Monoceros Loop supernova remnant.*
